Dew Tour Am Series

CLIENT: SDI MARKETING

DATE: MARCH 2014

SCOPE: ATHLETE & EVENT MANAGEMENT

Kamloops is a dry and dusty, almost desert like locale compared to the rest of British Columbia. Complete with their own small airport only a stones throw away from Vancouver, you would think you were in Nevada instead of interior B.C. But just a quick hour’s hike up one of the surrounding mountains and you’re into what the interior should feel like, and that is Sun Peaks Resort.

Mountain Dew and the Dew Tour Am Seriescouldn’t have chosen a better place to host the inaugural Dew Tour Am Series. The village and hospitality was world class and there were smiles on seemingly everyone’s faces all week. Considering we at EVENTSING come from Ontario where lift lines are of an abundance, we couldn’t believe it when we saw people riding directly onto the lift with no lines. Not to mention a fun pow day with the whole team the day before the whirlwind of setup started put was a great way to start the week.

The Dew Tour Am Series was created as a building block and stepping stone to help up-and-coming amateur snowboarders and skiers gain experience and results to one day compete in the full fledged Dew Tour south of the border. With more and more athletes travelling to compete in contests, it makes it easier to have a more ecletic and diverse group of competitors, which we had the privilege of experiencing at Sun Peaks. There were athletes from Ontario, Colorado, Alberta, British Columbia, California and Quebec.

The weather throughout the whole event was unexpected to say the least. We had everything from slushy, spring like weather to pow in the same day. In any case, the weather held out just enough for us to be able to have an amazing event.
